I got to the point in my life where something had to change. I was overweight and suffering from high blood pressure, arthritis, migraines and feelings of fatigue. I had sugar cravings that at times were out of control. I have struggled with my weight in the past, trying numerous food plans that were not sustainable. I still cannot believe how much my quality of life has improved, since asking Rebecca for guidance and support. In a two month period I detoxed my body starting with cutting out gluten, dairy, eggs and processed foods. And now my weight has reduced to a healthy level without my even noticing. I was taking 7 medications a day, which I have taken for over 20 years, I now take 3 and I'm hoping to reduce this further. I am pain free, feeling full of life, no energy dips and my blood pressure has reduced. The speed of the change has been remarkable, a change which is for life. My only regret is that I did not make these changes earlier. I would never want to go back to how I felt before, my life has truly turned around for the better. Gill, UK.
When diagnosed with a hernia about 2 months ago, I didn't really know what it meant or how to deal with it, but knew immediately that I was willing to try anything to avoid an operation. I always thought of myself as 'healthy', but I wasn't really honest with myself - my digestion has always been an issue - often feeling bloated or tired physically. Three pregnancies & births have meant that there has been a tremendous strain on my body, including big weight fluctuations. For the last year nutrition has played an increasingly big role in my life - I became vegetarian and started fasting. I felt good, but I knew I was only at the beginning of my path...
When diagnosed with a hernia, I decided to radically change my diet - I ate only raw fruit and veg and no carbs, for one week. This was tough and didn't feel right. I turned to Rebecca and together we made a plan. While raw fruit (a lot of papaya) and veg remained a big part of my diet, I added unprocessed carbs like potato and sweet potato, roasted vegetables, soups with coconut milk, fish, seeds, nuts, dried fruits, specific smoothies (heavy metal detox smoothie) and fresh vegetable juices. Also more green veg - spinach being key here.
Within the first week, I started to go to the toilet every day. I ate more than I ever had and yet I felt so much lighter. I had energy and felt satisfied. I stuck to this diet for 6 weeks and felt incredible! I was excited by the cooking - the different tastes and wholesomeness - I was feeling more inspired to try different things and loved the results. I lost a couple of kilos, cracking that weight level that I couldn't get under before. I realised that I did not miss dairy or processed carbs at all, quite the contrary. I was loving that light feeling so much that I still am not tempted to go near cheese (something I used to think I couldn't live without).
It turns out that my hernia has nothing to do with my intestines, so I will have to undergo surgery. Yet, that hernia has led me to sort out my digestion and my relationship with food, which I am hugely grateful for. This diet, in a relaxed manner and with the occasional treats (like pizza when I go to Italy!) is my way of life now. An attitude and a path I want to also show my husband and kids. Rebekka, Germany
