The most surprising thing about cooking this way is how quickly we were able to prepare the food. Especially the dessert! I'm still thinking about that dessert days later. Liz, London
We booked Rebecca for a 3 hour cookery lesson one rainy Saturday afternoon. She arrived with a listed of printed and customised recipes and all the ingredients we needed to produce about 5 delicious meals. After an initial consultation about our health, lifestyle and the sort of food we liked, she got started on the first recipe, showing us how to make a miso soup with fried tempeh. For the next two and half hours we went through most of the recipes on her list. Rebecca was very friendly but firm about keeping up the momentum and by the end of the session we had a whole weekend's worth of healthy wholesome food as well us a tin of tasty spelt muffins and sweet snacks for the following week. As someone who loathes spending ages in the kitchen with lots of washing up, she showed us some short cuts and techniques but none of the recipes were particularly complicated or lengthy. The recipes are healthy and filling but really tasty - her garlicky kale and dulse spaghetti is one of the best dishes we'd ever tried - and that was one that we made after she had left, without any supervision. Rebecca also guided us on how to begin creating a macrobiotic store cupboard and listed alternatives to the refined and white flour staples we typically bought. One of the big advantages was that Rebecca came to our house which meant we used our own kitchen equipment and could pop all the dishes we made straight into our fridge. We also didn't have to book childcare, in fact our one year old particularly enjoyed sitting in his high chair scrutinising his parent's progress and sampling each recipe. We would highly recommend Rebecca to anyone looking for inspiration in cooking healthier wholefood meals.
Had a great day re-orienting my concept of what good food is and learning to cook tasty and nutritious meals. The content we covered was a real eye-opener and I came away with a much better appreciation for what type of food groups and food brands I should be prioritizing in my diet. The cooking part of the day was super interactive and enjoyable. We made quite a few recipes between us - simple to put together, very tasty and very healthy. Rebecca was very patient and articulate with her instruction, particularly with the laggards like myself. Thoroughly enjoyed feasting on our creations, and by common consensus my pumpkin and sweetcorn fritters were the hit of the day! Darragh, London
